Springfield man suspected to be involved in over 100 burglaries to spend 11 years in state prison

Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Springfield man has pled guilty to a string of vehicle burglaries in hotel parking lots and will spend 11 years in state prison. In January, an investigation by Springfield police identified 34-year-old Christian Halberstadt as the suspect in the multiple burglaries in lots in the area of Dirksen Parkway between South Grand Avenue and Stevenson Drive. The incidents involved criminal damage to vehicles and theft of Milwaukee and Dewalt tools.

A news release from Deputy Chief Sara Pickford states Halberstadt is also suspected to be involved in over 100 burglaries to vehicles in 2024 including several in Jacksonville, Decatur and Sangamon County.
