Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Hundreds of Volunteers from all over Illinois braced Saturday’s snowstorm and gathered at Camp Butler National Cemetery Saturday morning for the annual Wreaths Across America.

Recent Gold Star Family recipient, and Event Coordinator Beth Kuntzman was among those attending.

“This event means a lot to me.  My father fought in Vietnam,” said Kuntzman.  “Honoring him and other soldiers brings me a lot of joy.”

Seeing hundreds of volunteers bracing the storm, to honor those who have fallen, meant even more to her, she said.

While a formal ceremony itself was cancelled because of the weather, more than 890 wreaths were unloaded and placed at gravesites across the cemetery nonetheless.
