Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) -A big project for the Illinois Department of Transportation will start Monday.

IDOT says it will take place on the flyover bridge decks at Interstate 155 near I-55 in Lincoln. It should take place over the next year, and involve some lane closures as new concrete will be poured, along with some new guardrails and shoulders.

Here in Springfield, IDOT says road resurfacing starts Monday on Veterans Parkway, between Greenbriar and Prairie Crossing. There will be lane closures, and delays throughout the $9 million project, lasting until the end of August.

Tuesday evening starts a brief closure of Cook Street in Springfield at the Third Street crossing.  The city says track repair work is needed, and should last only until Thursday morning.

IDOT continues to remind motorists to slow down in construction zones, and pull over for vehicles when possible.
