Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Meet Kevin Causley (pictured).

He played basketball at Urbana High School and Millikin University and is now the head boys’ basketball coach at Springfield High School. He succeeds Marques Warfield, who was fired last month.

District 186 hired Causley as a social worker. He had been an assistant coach at Peoria Manual, and this will be his first high school head coaching job.

“For me, the crux of my work is being able to support students in the social work capacity,” Causley told the school board Monday. “I think that is where my real value lies. The basketball is just an added bonus.”

Causley backed out of a job he accepted a few weeks ago, telling Capitol City Now the compensation structure in Tennessee is different from that there, considering years of experience.
