SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A holiday activity at White Oaks Mall has something for everyone.

Sean Dickerson (pictured) is promoting “Wintree Wonderland,” initiated in 2025. “Years ago, the city had an amazing event called Festival of Trees,” Dickerson told the Springfield city council this week. “With that going away, a group of us decided we needed to bring forth a new tradition for families.

The dates for Wintree Wonderland are Nov. 14-Dec. 24. Dickerson says it’s near the new Toys R Us and event sponsor Dumber Records.

“We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit group looking to provide a unique, fun-filled, magical experience for families in our community. The event is also designed to provide opportunities for local charitable organizations to raise funds and awareness for all the great things they do for our community.”

The events include dozens of decorated trees, Santa’s Workshop (featuring groups offering make-it-take-it projects), cookie and cocoa stations, and photo opportunities at stations built by the Lanphier High School building trades class and decorated by Lanphier art classes.

“Sponsorships range up to $5,000,” Dickerson said, hinting this is a way to get a donor onto Santa’s nice list.
