Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A former Springfield Police Officer will be spending more time behind bars after pleading guilty to charges of sexual assault while on duty.

Sangamon County Circuit Court records indicate Taylor Staff, 30, was sentenced Wednesday to six-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and Custodial Sexual Misconduct.  Other charges, including Criminal Sexual Assault and Official Misconduct, were dropped in exchange.

Staff was arrested after an Illinois State Police investigation in February of 2021, accused of assaulting three separate victims while on the job.
