Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) -The Muni is getting quite the performance this weekend. Mamma Mia! is taking the stage! Luke Busboom, actor and dancer in The Muni’s production of Mamma Mia! stopped by The WTAX Morning Newswatch to discuss the upcoming performance.

As someone who choregraphs, what exactly can expect with your performance?

“I actually just choreographed ‘Mamma Mia!’ this past fall out at Porta. It’s a heavy dance show. There’s a lot of stuff that goes into it. The most important thing is making sure that everyone feels comfortable on stage and is having a good time because that’s what the music is just trying to get you to have a good time on stage, as long as we’re feeling good, then everyone is doing good.”

What is Mamma Mia! about?

“It’s about a mom who moves to a Greek island with her daughter, raises her daughter, and then her daughter is getting married, and she wants to know who her dad is, so she has a faint idea that it could be three different men and she invites them to the island for her wedding, the rest of the story kind of spirals out from there.”

Since you’re acting and dancing in this production, instead of putting together the dances, how does it feel to have something different?

“Honestly, it’s such a nice break to be able to do my numbers and do what I have to, and then I get to go sit, and I get to take a break, and I get to get a water, and I’m not worried about, I don’t have to do all the worrying about making sure everything looks right. I get to just kind of sit back and have fun.”
