Blackhawks hoist the 2010 Cup. This years parade will be even bigger.

The Blackhawks did it again!!! Last night for the second time in 4 years the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup Finals. This time I thought I was going to miss the game. You see my daughter had a Softball game at 7:45 and that meant we would be playing until at least 9:30. That also meant I would miss most of the Hockey game. By the time I got home and turned on the TV to see the game it was the third period and it was less than 7 minutes left. After I got past the fact that I would only get to watch 7 minutes of the hockey game I concentrated on the score. It was 2-1 Bruins. I thought to myself well looks like there will be a game 7 but then you never know. I told my wife that the way this finals has gone the Blackhawks could score and send this thing into OT. That would only make sense right considering how close these games have been. Lo and behold the Hawks tie the game. It was huge. With just minutes left the Blackhawks pull their goalie, send out an extra skater and go for it.  Jonathon Toews gets the puck and goes low behind the net then puts it in front of the net where Bryan Bickell buries it for the goal.

I was so excited. I couldnt believe I got home in time to see the Hawks tie the game to go into OT. I was convinced we were gonna settle in for another full period of hockey and then seventeen seconds later something amazing happened…. Dave Bolland shockingly got behind the goalie on a wild play that started with a wild shot by Oduya and a deflection by Frolik that caused the goalie to move out from the net. The puck post deflection landed at Bollands feet and he pushed it in! It actually took a second to register what had happened. With less than a minute left it dawned on me that the Blackhawks had just secured the Stanley Cup. It was crazy!

I was cheering, my wife was cheering and even my daughter who had watched Hockey for the first time just a couple weeks ago when the Hawks beat the Wings, began cheering.

It was truly an accomplishment. A team victory in a well fought contest. It certainly wasnt a jackass walking a tightrope. This was real sport and real Champions!
Congrats to the Blackhawks!! Your 2013 Stanley cup Champions.
