Springfield Police Chief Kenny Winslow says more shots fired in a neighborhood plagued by violence in the last few weeks is forcing his department to increase patrols.

Winslow says no one was hurt when shots were fired from a passing car in the 1900-block of South 13th Street around 6pm Tuesday.  This follows a similar incident overnight Monday.  He says detectives have some idea who is behind the crimes and are trying to build a case to bring to the State’s Attorney.

He says the department is seeking the public’s help in identifying who may behind the shootings.  Anonymous tips may be given to Sanagamon and Menard County Crime Stoppers by calling 788-8427 or their website cashfortips.us.
