For the most part, it appears area residents like where they live.

A survey conducted by UIS for the Springfield Sangamon County Regional Planning Commission has been updated since the last time the survey was conducted in 1975.  Commission Executive Director Norm Sims explains why.

“People want a lot of things and we wanted to get a feel for what their priorities are,” says Sims.  “One of the things we do in planning is to kind of set those priorities.  The other thing we wanted to do was see if we were progress.”

Most respondents say while they enjoy their neighborhoods, they also say streets continue to fall in disrepair.  Sims says the survey was designed to give city and village planners an idea of what residents want.
