Summer Welcomes You to the Fair

Summer Welcomes You to the Fair

The summer of 2014 is the summer of Summer.

Summer Robbins, that is.

The 19-year-old from Coffeen, in Montgomery County, is Miss Illinois County Fair Queen of 2014. She presides over the Illinois State Fair.

“My grandmother had cattle when I was a little kid,” she says in establishing her farm cred. “I remember feeding the calves. I live in the boonies, in the middle of nowhere, between cornfields.”

She began as a violinist and developed an interest in helping veterans. She is majoring in business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she will be a sophomore.

Law school may be next, but for now, she’s just enjoying the summer of Summer and hoping to see you at the Illinois State Fair.
