The proposed merger of the PORTA and AC-Central school districts will not go forward. Voters in both districts had to approve, and while PORTA voters overwhelmingly supported it AC-Central voters didn’t. Approval from both districts was required.

Also failing was a proposed merger between the Morrisonville and Panhandle school districts.

Pleasant Plains voters approved a one percent sales tax hike to be used for property tax relief, municipal operations or infrastructure — 59 percent voted in favor.

Sangamon County voters overwhelmingly decided they wanted to keep the Sangamon County Citizens Efficiency Commission, with 71 percent of voters wanting it to continue its work.

Rochester voters don’t want to become a home rule community with 77 percent of voters saying as much.

Several initiatives in Sherman to benefit public safety failed, an increase in the property tax limit, a new tax rate for the ambulance service and a new tax rate for safety equipment all failed.
