A tentative settlement has been reached between Schnucks and credit or debit card users that may have been affected by a months-long security breach.

Schnucks announced in March of last year that customers at 79 stores, including both Springfield stores, may have had card data stolen if they used them between December 9, 2012 and March 30, 2013. A news release says affected customers can accept up to $200 for time lost and out of pocket expenses, $10 per card affected, and up to $10,000 for “extraordinary unreimbursed monetary losses.”

Customers have until December 9th to opt out or object, and until December 31st to submit claims. A final hearing date is set for January. Schnucks has not admitted any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.

A website has also been set up which includes answers to Frequently Asked Questions, details of the settlement and forms to fill out.
