Radogno Says She Is Ready to Talk about the Budget

The back and forth between Republicans and Democrats in the Illinois Senate over who should come up with ways to fix the state’s budget gap continues.

It began on Monday when Senate President John Cullerton (D-Chicago) challenged Republicans to come up with ways to close a projected one-point-five billion-dollar to nearly three-billion-dollar budget gap – depending on whom you ask – without offering ideas of his own.

Senate Republican Leader Christine Radagno (R-Lemont) fired back saying they’ve offered plenty of ideas in the past.

“We have offered, we as Republicans, offered numerous solutions that have been disregarded, buried in sub-committee and frankly at times even mocked,” said Radagno.

Radagno says Republicans are willing to work with Democrats but only if they’re willing to do three things: fix the state’s economy, stop overspending and commit to saving money where they can.
