The test that is replacing ISAT, PARCC, is getting a test itself.
PARCC stands for Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers and is a multi-state test replacing the Illinois Standards Achievement Test.
“Any time you unveil a new test of this magnitude and size,” says Illinois State Board of Education spokeswoman Mary Fergus, “it’s a good idea to work out the bugs, and that’s exactly what we’re trying to do. You know that there will be glitches, but we want to see that this year, before it goes into operation next year.”
Fergus says about twelve percent of eligible third-through-eleventh graders are taking it between now and the end of the school year.
