U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) seems to have changed his tune when it comes to the child immigrants from Central America.

Kirk had previously called for the kids to be deported back to their home countries, but that was before he met some of the children being temporarily housed in facilities in Illinois.

“It was a changing experience for me to meet those kids,” Kirk said. “The kids that I met were from Honduras and their parents had been killed by (the criminal gang known as) MS-13. Really sad situation.”

Kirk says he still believes those children should be placed with family members, as he thinks they’ll do the most to protect the kids.
