Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Pickup on Dirksen Parkway

A Springfield man was killed early Tuesday morning after being hit by a car on Dirksen Parkway near Old Rochester Road.

Police say a pickup truck hit  51-year old Harding Johnson as he walked on the shoulder around 5am. Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards says preliminary autopsy results indicate Johnson died from multiple blunt force injuries.

The driver of the pickup did stop. Springfield Police are investigating the incident.
