U.S. Senator Mark Kirk is changing his tune when it comes to President Obama’s handling of the crisis in Iraq.

Earlier this week, Kirk questioned whether Obama was up to the task of making sure Iraq doesn’t fall under the control of militant groups. Kirk now supports Obama’s move to send in up to 300 military advisers, as well as keeping the option of airstrikes on the table.

“I think the President’s decision was a wise one,” Kirk said, “to use the influence and power of the United States’ air power to make sure Iraq is not a full-blown terrorist entity.”

Kirk says he favors airstrikes, which he believes will be more effective and accurate once there are military personnel in Iraq to direct drones or planes to targets.
