Illinois GOP: It’s Time to Unite

With the primary over, Illinois Republicans are preaching party unity.

At a party breakfast in Chicago, Illinois Republican Party chairman Jack Dorgan emphasized that by coming together, they can unseat Gov. Pat Quinn and other Democrats in the general election.

“I have painfully watched the economic death spiral that Pat Quinn has created in Illinois,” Dorgan said, “but I’ve also seen Republican governors win elections all across the Midwest.”

The new Republican nominee in that race, Bruce Rauner, was quick to offer an olive branch to his primary opponents, saying they’re in agreement on most issues.

“We’ve got to work together to win these elections and we’ve got to work together to restore good government,” Rauner said.

Rauner didn’t say whether he’d ask for a formal endorsement from his former opponents.
