Gun Advocates Push for Expansion of Law

Despite notching a win for gun rights activists last year in passing concealed carry legislation, the Illinois State Rifle Association says it has plenty on its agenda for 2014.

Much of that agenda centers on tweaking the new concealed carry law, specifically where you can and cannot take a gun. Illinois State Rifle Association President Richard Pearson says the group wants to expand the list of places while gun-control advocates want to shrink the list.

“We are going to continue to strive for gun rights in Illinois, we are going to continue to try to make the concealed carry law better and we expect a great many battles to come up,” said Pearson.

The group – and gun rights advocates as a whole – is holding their annual lobby day at the statehouse.
