A federal judge has ruled a civil lawsuit against the City of Springfield can continue.

Calvin Christian alleges organized harrassment from the Springfield Police Department on a number of occasions, ranging from traffic stops without probable cause to use of excessive force.

“It’s conduct the Springfield Police Department has not recognized,” said Christian. “It’s something that I brought to the forefront, harrassment is happening. And it needs to stop.”

Christian alleges police targeted him after Freedom of Information Act requests into police misconduct. The court agreed with Christian that he’s properly pled a case for civil conspiracy; he’s seeking unspecified monetary damages.
