Dog Park Proponents Not Giving Up

Even though there’s not enough support for a new dog park in Washington Park, the drive for a park is far from over.

Karen Hoelzer says her group will soon begin gathering support for a location in the Franklin Park neighborhood.

“Hopefully things will move along, we’ll need some design ideas and there will be some public hearings,” she says. “Nothing happens too quickly, I’m afraid.”

“Barker Park,” as it will be called, is still in the early stages so Hoelzer can’t say how much it will cost to get off the ground or how much it will cost to maintain.
