Cubs Lawsuit: Team Goes After Fake Mascot

The Chicago Cubs have filed a lawsuit to try to stop what the team says is a fake mascot involved in a bar fight and charging fans for photos outside Wrigley Field.

The team says they used a “Billy Cub” costume and tried to pass the character off as an official representative of the team.

The suit alleges trademark infringement, injury to the Cubs’ reputation and unfair competition.

It accuses the fake mascot of demanding tips for photos, making lewd gestures and punching a man at a bar near the ballpark.
