Comptroller Unveils Tax Refund Monitoring Initiative

The state has set up a new alert system to tell you when your tax refund check is on its way.

Once you’ve filed your state income tax return, you can register at the comptroller’s office website to see if your payment has been processed. If it hasn’t, you can sign up to be notified by text message or e-mail once it goes through. Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka believes it will take a bit of the stress out of tax season.

“People get anxious waiting for it,” Topinka said, “so that they can pay bills. So that they can kind of budget on when they can get the car repaired, when they can buy a new refrigerator, or dare I dream on, maybe even a vacation in a warm climate.”

You’ll need to enter your name and social security number to sign up. Topinka says the alert system was put into place using existing resources in her office.
