Chemical Collection Is Coming

The Illinois Department of Agriculture says it will collect and dispose of unwanted agricultural chemicals in eight counties this year. They include Sangamon, Menard, Macon, Logan, and De Witt.

It’s free, and it’s later this summer. It’s open to farmers, nursery owners, private pesticide applicators, structural pest control applicators and landowners who inherited unwanted agricultural pesticides when they bought their property.

Agriculture officials say it’s expensive for people to properly dispose of agrichemicals on their own. The state also will assume liability for the chemicals after they’re collected.
