Which of the Republican candidates has the best chance of beating frontrunner Bruce Rauner? It depends on which candidate you ask.

State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) says in his perfect world, both State Senator Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) and State Treasurer Dan Rutherford would drop out of the race. He believes neither has a chance to catch up with Rauner before the March 18 primary.

“Treasurer Rutherford is obviously embroiled in some problems and I believe is unelectable,” Dillard said, “and Sen. Brady has proven he’s absolutely unelectable.”

Brady calls those comments confusing. :And the fact of the matter is every poll that I’ve seen, (Dillard)’s been in last place,” Brady said.

Those same polls also have Rauner leading all other candidates by double digits.
