Law enforcement officers in Springfield say a drug suspect arrested this week had barricaded himself inside his home behind a door reinforced with iron bars, windows covered with plywood and a back door rigged to deliver an electric shock.

According to the State Journal-Register, 55-year-old Robert Johnson Junior was arrested Thursday.

He’s a suspected crack cocaine dealer. Aside from being accused of drug offenses, Johnson was also charged Friday with criminal fortification of a residence, a Class 3 felony.

Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser says the charge applies when a suspect’s intent is to prevent entry of a law enforcement officer.

In this case, the fortifications included a back door connected to a battery that would deliver an electric shock to anyone who tried to open it.
