Shia LaBeouf just keeps getting weirder

Troubled actor Shia LaBeouf stunned reporters at the Berlin International Film Festival in Germany on Sunday by walking out of a press conference after answering only one question.

“The Transformers” star is attending the annual Berlinale event to promote his latest film, director Lars Von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac,” but has turned heads with his scruffy appearance and missing tooth, which he reportedly had filed down for a new movie role.

However, LaBeouf’s bizarre behavior reached a climax on Sunday when he abruptly bowed out of a press conference alongside co-stars Uma Thurman, Christian Slater, Stellan Skarsgard.

Following his first question, about onscreen sex scenes, the actor gave a bizarre response and walked out after telling the crowd, “When the seagulls follow the trawler, it’s because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much.”

LaBeouf’s trawler quote previously hit headlines back in 1995 when French soccer star-turned actor Eric Cantona uttered the same bizarre words at a press conference following his assault conviction. He also left the event without uttering any further responses to the media.

No explanation for the actor’s departure had been given, but LaBeouf drew attention again hours later when he walked the red carpet for the film’s premiere wearing a brown paper bag on his head.

The 27-year-old, who was dressed in a black tuxedo and bow tie, had the words “I am not famous anymore” scrawled across the bag, which had two small holes cut out for his eyes.

The phrase appeared to refer to his recent Twitter.com declaration stating his intentions to retire from all public life following a plagiarism scandal in which he admitted copying the story for a short film from a graphic novel.

He has also been hitting headlines for his alleged temper troubles after he was accused of becoming embroiled in an altercation at a pub in London last month.
