Rockers Motley Crue have started work on what will be their final song.

The group staged a press conference in January to announce a farewell tour, which will begin later this year, and signed a formal “cessation of touring” agreement which prohibits the members of the group from hitting the road as Motley Crue from the end of 2015.

However, Tommy Lee and his bandmates are working on new material, and producer James Michael tells Artisan News he has started recording a final hit.

Speaking at Wednesday’s Revolver Golden Gods Awards in Los Angeles, he said, “As we know, the Crue is getting ready to hang it up, and we discussed for a while doing a final song. That’s a tall order. There was a lot of pressure on us to make sure that we did it right and that we celebrated everything that they were known for. So I think we’ve done it.

“I’m actually tracking drums with Tommy tomorrow (Thursday), and it’s an outstanding song. I think it’s gonna be an absolutely amazing way to go out swinging.”

Guitarist Mick Mars recently revealed he and bassist Nikki Sixx had written a new song, which will be released in time for the upcoming tour.
