More setbacks strike Freddie Mercury biopic

British actor Ben Whishaw is baffled by the latest delay of the long-awaited Freddie Mercury biopic.

The “Skyfall” star took over the role in November after previous leading man Sacha Baron Cohen left the project in July due to creative differences.

The film continued to suffer a number of setbacks, including the exit of director Dexter Fletcher, and the biopic remains on hold much to the dismay of Whishaw, who insists he is still in the dark about the cause of the difficulties.

He tells Time Out London, “Actually, I don’t know what’s happening, it seems to be on the back-burner. It was going, then there were problems getting the script working.”
