The Foo Fighters officially made their live comeback in Mexico on Wednesday night after a year-long hiatus.

Dave Grohl and his bandmates performed a hits set dotted with covers of Beatles and Pink Floyd tracks at the Foro Sol stadium in Mexico City before 55,000 adoring fans.

The group prepared for the big gig by performing for diners in a Californian pizza restaurant where the rockers played a secret show at the tiny Rock & Roll Pizza venue in Moorpark on Monday.

The Mexico City show was the group’s first official gig since a New York concert in September, 2012 at the Global Festival.

The Foo Fighters will play at the same Mexico venue on Friday night.
